I rarely ask for anything specific when it comes to gift giving. My family knows me well and does a great job at selecting items I enjoy and appreciate. This past Christmas, however, I couldn’t resist the call of the Adventure Journal over at Commit30. I saw it online, and I just HAD to have it. I am a list maker to the extreme, so I knew this bucket list journal would be perfect! With a quick message to my mom, I had a hunch it would be under the tree on December 25th.
Fast forward now, to April 19th, and my journal is still untouched. Why? The process of narrowing down the great big world to 30 experiences has been no small task. After all, there is so much of the world to see and so many things to do! I have been rolling around ideas in my brain for months now, jotting lists on random bits and pieces of paper as the urge struck.
I am now almost ready to take my pen and commit my thoughts down in my journal. The blank pages are calling to me. But before I do so, I have to pause and reflect on the many wonderful travels I HAVE had. I have been adding precious experiences to my memories long before before there ever was an official list. Many of these experiences have been life changing, either because of the people I met on the journey or by having stood where great persons of history have trod before. Therefore, as I begin to reveal my list, please know that it is with much appreciation for the experiences I have already had, and with a grateful heart for the ability to explore so freely. I know it’s a privilege, and one I do not take lightly.
Next week, I’ll begin revealing my list, one item at a time. I’ll be sharing stories and inspiration of why each experience is on my list, as well as possible ways to visit each location. I invite you to come along on my journey, and perhaps be inspired to get out and explore more of this great, big, mysterious, wonderful world with me. It will be an adventure!
